Canopy Adult Program

The Canopy Adult Program provides day programming for adults over 22 years of age on the autism spectrum. The adult program began in May 2012 to respond to the growing needs of the adult autism population. The program’s goals include providing age-appropriate individualized programming that recognizes the strengths and interests of each participant, providing meaningful opportunities to interact with the broader community, and supporting adults on the autism spectrum with lifelong learning and engagement.

The Canopy programming carefully incorporates age-appropriate functional life skills, vocational skills, and social-emotional activities into daily activities.

A participant’s weekly schedule includes community-based experiences, relevant vocational skills, music class, social skills, sports, and games while strengthening communication skills throughout all activities. Our professional staff is continuously mindful to incorporate sensory tools and strategies within each day to better support our adult participant’s diverse needs.

The Canopy program also includes Christine’s Dream Equestrian Center. Christine’s Dream Equestrian Center is certified by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH). All programs activities are conducted under the instruction of a PATH International certified instructor. The program’s curriculum includes physical, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive activities to enhance participants’ experiences and life skills.
